Associate Attorney
Aubrey Posey-Hitchcock is an Associate Attorney who joined the firm in 2017 after a varied legal career. At Hitchcock Law Group, she focuses her practice on the creation and administration of guardianships, estate planning, and Medicaid planning.
Ms. Posey-Hitchcock earned a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in social science education from Florida State University and taught middle and high school social studies for seven years in Southwest Florida before attending Stetson University College of Law. She received her Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, from Stetson in 2005.
From 2006 through 2008, Ms. Posey-Hitchcock clerked for The Honorable Bradford L. Thomas at the First District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee. She then served as general counsel for the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, housed within the Department of Elder Affairs. While there, she gained invaluable knowledge of long-term care facilities and residents’ rights which she enjoys sharing with her clients. Ms. Posey-Hitchcock relocated to Clearwater in 2012 to be near her husband, Steven Hitchcock, and worked for Tankel Law Group as an associate attorney representing community associations, before joining him in practice.
She is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida and in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She is a member of the Elder Law and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Sections of the Florida Bar. Ms. Posey-Hitchcock is a past President of the Guardian Association of Pinellas County, Inc. and is a member of the Clearwater Bar Association and the Pinellas Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers.
In her community, she is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin, a member of the Clearwater Yacht Club, is active in the local tennis community and supports Southeast Beagle Rescue from which she and her husband have rescued several beagles. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve, their rescue beagles, Misty, Charles Dwayne aka “Fuzz” and Toby, who are, at least occasionally, office dogs.
