Steven E. Hitchcock is the founder of Hitchcock Law Group and a specialist in elder law. As one of only a few attorneys in Florida who is both Board-Certified as an Elder Law attorney and who has an LL.M. in Elder law, he is an expert in his field who focuses his practice on Special Needs Planning and Trusts, Medicaid planning, Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Trust Administration and the creation and administration of guardianships.
Mr. Hitchcock is originally from New York, where he earned a bachelor’s degree at Union University in Pharmacy. He worked for over 20 years as a pharmacist and continues to maintain his licensure as a pharmacist in Florida. He attended Stetson University College of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, with a Certificate of Concentration in Elder Law. Mr. Hitchcock went on to receive his LL.M. in Elder Law, with Distinction, from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida. He currently serves as an adjunct professor teaching in the Elder Law program.
Mr. Hitchcock is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He is a member of the Elder Law and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law (RPPTL) sections of the Florida Bar. He is a past Chair of the Elder Law Section and is a member of the RPPTL Section’s guardianship committee. In addition to his involvement with the Florida Bar, Mr. Hitchcock is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys (AFELA) and the Academy of Special Needs Planners (ASNP).
In the community, Mr. Hitchcock serves on the Board of Advocare Trust, the Board of Tampa Family Health Centers and the Board of the Clearwater Yacht Club. He enjoys boating, playing tennis and spending time with his wife, Aubrey, and their rescue beagles, Misty, Charles Dwayne aka “Fuzz” and Toby.
